     Plant Biotechnology Research
A family of terrestrial plant chambers for a wide variety of biotechnology research are available through WCSAR's industry partners. These chambers can be custom configured to applications including commercial plant breeding and plant research in genetics, photosynthesis, nutrition, and other areas of plant physiology. Combinations of the controlled environment subsystem technologies described may be used in the chamber design. Current chamber sizes range from interior dimensions of 18" x 18" x 18" to approximately 36" x 36" x 36", although chambers of other sizes may be designed.

Terrestrial Plant Growth Chamber
     Commercial Seed Production
American Ag-Tec International, Ltd., a WCSAR industry partner, is marketing a chamber for the commercial production of high quality seed potatoes ("minitubers"). Due to the high level of automation and environmental control, a full sized facility using these chambers will produce millions of minitubers in a year-round production cycle while using a small workforce.

     Science Education
A WCSAR-developed student growth chamber (Astroponics), introduced by Fisher Science Education, provides students with hands-on experience in growing plants under "non-traditional" conditions. A chamber with approximate dimensions of 4" x 4" x 7" allows growth of plants in a soilless rooting material, using light passed through a red optical filter and water or nutrient solution delivery controlled by an external leveling bulb system. **This product is no longer available.**
