The experiment launched with the hardware loaded with 91 Arabidopsis seeds: half were identical to those flown during Increment 2 and half had been produced in space during the Increment 2 experiment. Our goals were to obtain second generation "space" seeds using the first generation "space" seeds, and to harvest living plant tissue for gene expression analysis.
